Story[]

Yut Lung was appointed by his eldest brother, Lee Wang Lung, to go to Professor Dawson's house, 102, 42 Westwood Los Angeles (the address given to Ash by the dying reporter at the very beginning of Banana Fish) in order to get closer to Ash under false pretenses so that he could stop him from learning more about Banana Fish and get Shorter to spy on him.

Generally, the false story given to cover Yut Lung was that he was Professor Dawson's son, and that the reason the latter wasn't there was because he had been missing for six months. His parents died when he was six, at which point he went to live with his aunt and uncle. His school recommended that he enter the Dawson household as a member of staff before being formally adopted by the family. At sixteen, he earned a full ride to university, graduating early from East Bridge Senior High, where he was lauded in the sciences and medical arts, earning a scholarship to study computer science.

Episode 7

When Ash and his group get to the address at night after having gone to Jessica's house, they discover that the property is large, almost a mansion. The front gate has been left open, and the lights are off, which Ash finds suspicious. They go inside the property and discover one of Yut Lung's servants (Suk-Leui, masquerading as just a regular housemaid) collapsed by the side of the house, and she cries to them that someone has tried to kidnap the "Young Master". Ash quickly finds a group of men behind the house attempting to kidnap this "Young Master".

Though in reality it is completely staged and they barely fight before leaving, Ash does not know this. However, he does mention that the assailants seem to have exceptionally poor aim, stating, "Are you blind or what?" in response to their attempts to shoot him. Ash doesn't kill them, merely shooting one in the arm before they run off. Ash also mistakes Yut Lung for a girl, noting his confusion as the earlier housemaid had said "Master" and not "Mistress". Shorter notes after this, after having run off to chase the kidnappers, that they got away in a van before he could catch them.

After this, Yut Lung is brought by them and his servant to his chambers, asleep, where his servant explains to them that "Yau-Si" (or "Yousiss"; the former is written in the English subtitles, while it is spelled as the latter on Sonny's phone) is Professor Dawson's son. Yut Lung then wakes, and Max explains to him that they're looking for Abraham Dawson. Yut Lung states that that is Professor Dawson's younger brother, and has never met him. He also explains that he is adopted because his father didn't have any children, and that Professor Dawson isn't here because he's been missing for 6 months.

Later, Ash attempts to hack into Professor Dawson's computer, and asks Shorter to look up "Yau-Si" as he finds him suspicious because he walks too quietly. When Yut Lung comes back to bring him tea, Ash swivels around in the desk chair, and Yut Lung apologises for surprising him, to which Ash responds that he doesn't like being approached from behind because he grew up in a tough neighborhood. Yut Lung tells him to drink jasmine tea, as it's calming. Ash notes that Yut Lung makes no noise when he walks, and Yut Lung replies that "We Chinese are brought up to move quietly". Ash jokes about Shorter not doing so.

Immediately after, Ash gets into Professor Dawson's computer by using a cracking software stored on a USB drive, and states when asked by Yut Lung that he is decrypting an encrypted drive, to which Yut Lung says that that's incredibly and asks him if he can watch.

During this, Eiji walks into the room and stands directly over Ash's shoulder, and Ash doesn't react at all to his presence. Yut Lung notices this with a surprised and slightly conflicted expression. Ash decrypts the drive, and Eiji comments, like Yut Lung had earlier, that his work is incredible. They then high-five while laughing and smiling at each other. Yut Lung regards this with a neutral expression, and then turns away.

When Ash looks up "Banana Fish" on the now-unencrypted drive, multiple results pop up, and Yut Lung asks what exactly "Banana Fish" is. Ash replies that that is what he wants to find out. Eiji brings the rest of the group to the computer, and Ash opens some of the files, discovering that Banana Fish isn't a person like they previously thought but a type of drug similar in chemical structure to LSD. He notes that the key to Banana Fish is likely the "Inter Alkaloid" listed as one of the components of the drug, as there is no further data about it listed.

The scene cuts to Shorter and Sonny, his friend, sitting at a restaurant, where Sonny shows the rest Yut Lung's false cover story (listed at top of page) to Shorter on his phone. Shorter comments that it makes sense, and that he got adopted because he was smart. Sonny asks nervously how Nadia is doing, and Shorter says she's doing fine. Sonny continues to awkwardly comment about nostalgic moments between him and Shorter, and Shorter mentions casually "Yeah, dad was still around those days", while a man in a suit is seen rising from his seat in the background. Sonny is acting strange, and Shorter asks him if he's alright.

Sonny sharply yells to Shorter to not ask questions and to immediately leave Los Angeles, to forget about Ash and just go. Several more suited men are seen standing up, and the blinds of the restaurant are drawn shut. A hand claps down on Shorter's shoulder, and Lee Hua Lung introduces himself. Shorter is surprised, especially because he is familiar with the Lee clan.

Shorter is later seen lying to Ash about having found nothing suspicious about "Yau-Si", and it cuts to Shorter's meeting with Lee Hua Lung, where the latter states that the situation has changed and his brother is no longer supporting them—as in, the Chinese mafia. Shorter is upset, saying that Lee Hua Lung's brother promised to support them, but Lee Hua Lung again states that those are his brother's orders, and that from now on Shorter is to spy on Ash Lynx and his group/gang. Lee Hua Lung also mentions that Yut Lung, who is of the Lee clan, will be giving him orders from now on and will contact him shortly. The scene cuts back to Ash and Shorter's conversation, and Ash suggests that the housemaid should make some Chinese dishes for Shorter since he's tired.

Yut Lung picks up on this and goes to Shorter to suggest that he send his housemaid to make food, but Shorter grabs him by the collar of his shirt, pushing him against a wall and demanding to know who he is, stating that Sonny would've had to be lying about his past. He yells at him to reveal who "Yut Lung" is. Shorter then notices a dragon tattoo that Yut Lung has on the side of his neck, noting that it's the Lee family seal, and asks him if he is Yut Lung.

Yut Lung smirks, covering the tattoo with his hands as he slips away from Shorter and faces him head on. He chuckles.

The scene cuts to Yut Lung running his hands through his hair, pointing at Shorter as he sits at his desk. He tells Shorter that he will obey his orders from now on, and to consider his words to also be his older brother's words.
