The BANANA FISH Summer Exhibition was a 7-week expo for the then-airing BANANA FISH anime held in Aqua City Odaiba, a seaside shopping complex in Odaiba, Tokyo.

Event details[]

Admission to the exhibition was free and visitors received a free postcard featuring the event's promotional image. An exhibit of the original and animated works, a merchandise shop, a cafe with American food, and a stamp rally titled "Find the lost kid, Ash!" were featured activities. The prize for the stamp rally was a postcard of previously unreleased studio artwork, and the art and menu for the cafe would later become the Banana Fish Cafe & Bar event. Each weekend, the newest episode of the anime premiered at the exhibition.

One of Odaiba's tourist locations is a small copy of New York City's Statue of Liberty, standing at 1/7th the size of the original. The smaller statue was erected in honor of Japan's friendship with France in 1998, but the statue became so beloved that it remains permanently. Tokyo Bay and the Rainbow Bridge can be seen behind it.
