Charlie Dickinson is a male homicide detective as well as a friend of Max Lobo who he previously met in a police academy. He enters into a romantic relationship with Nadia Wong in Banana Fish.

Charlie has messy orange hair with darker eyebrows and wears a brown suit with a red and gray stripped tie.
In the manga, he is shown to have a mustache.
Personality[]
As Police officer Charlie is relatively sharp, he found the suicides suspicious before it was proven they were manipulated with. He may seem easy going but he takes his job very seriously. However, one can say he has a soft spot for kids and feels genuinely compelled to help them. Even going as far as asking his friend Max to look after Ash when he was in prison.

Relationships[]
- Max Lobo: They were friends ever since they met in Police Academy. Having known each other for so many years, Charlie knows Max very well but is also sympathetic to some of his life situations.
- Nadia Wong: In the manga, Nadia is known to be Charlie's lover but not classified in the anime.
- Shunichi Ibe: Ibe first came to America to meet Max and work with him on the article, but since he was in prison at the time. It's possible Max asked Charlie to take care of him and Eiji.
- Jenkins: Jenkins is Charlie's superior, but they are like partners.
- Shorter Wong: While the two are not often shown together, they appear to be good friends despite Charlie being aware of Shorter's activities. They get along quite well and help each other out at times.
- Ash Lynx: Charlie appears to be aware of the tough life Ash has had before and after becoming the leader of his gang. Because of this knowledge, Charlie sometimes lowers his guard and forgets how dangerous Ash is which gives the teen plenty of chances to run off. Even knowing that he at times is ordered to arrest Ash, Charlie shows great hesitance and resentment for having to do so.
