Blanca was called on by Dino to stop Ash when it was becoming clear the teen was starting to become a serious threat toward Dino's plans. Blanca was the only one Dino felt could reign Ash in as he was the one man who knew Ash well enough to predict his moves and beat him in combat.
Blanca returned to inspect things before accepting the job. From successfully following Ash all day, he saw how his former pupil had changed and how he was fond of Eiji Okumura. At hearing the potential danger Ash was putting himself in for the sake of stopping Dino and keeping Eiji safe, Blanca decided to accept Dino's offer and tried to find ways to convince Ash to surrender himself to Dino as a potential best solution to keeping everyone alive. He made this point clear when he targeted Eiji to make Ash see how easy it would be to go after those he cared for most. After talking to Ash directly, Blanca saw how honest Ash was about how much Eiji meant to him and that he was willing to give his own life to keep him safe. Blanca was even more surprised when Ash begged him not to hurt Eiji.
