I love this anmie. Although it is really nice anime, I do not like the ending. ...
Why ?! After watching this one, I turn to another one called dororo. Probably I hope to push myself off this sad feelings.
By the way, this is the first passage on this site and has become my top 3 and the other two are nihofun.com and mydramaslist. Hope to know you guys' thought..
Yes with everything going on, Banana Fish certainly masters the tragedy aspect as well as being a poignant real world commentary. Yet like you say the anime is rightly loved for the best reasons. The animation, music and particularly the characters themselves: Ash, Eiji, Shorter, Skip (may as well include everyone!) Though in a pantomime everyone plays their parts, mastering the awful scenes like the outstanding actors they are, no matter what though the characters are forever.
If you wanted to, one of the good things about the ending is that it is easily modifiable in our minds. We have the gripping action drenched, thriller story, and then at the end we can simply say “well I like my ending better” with Ash living with Eiji as they planned and what they deserved. Those happy thoughts easily overcome the sad ones, never mind what the author wants as canon XD
Good call with having Fandom as one of your top three, you are able to use your account across every wiki to edit and improve article pages, if you would like. Either way enjoy everything the wiki offers!
I agree with you on the end. I'm glad that you're able to find an anime to take your sadness off of Banana Fish!
Although Dororo (in my personal opinion) is a great anime, the Banana Fish depression never fully goes away...
Generating sadness, to being thrilling, having horrible moments to seeing the best in people. Banana Fish delivers on all the extremes both bad and good.
Of course everyone can decide for themselves what makes Banana Fish what it is and what they take with them. Characters like Shorter, Griffin, Skip, Jessica, Max and Ibe to of course Ash and Eiji are good aspects to treasure.
Not to mention a lovely rendered animation of New York!
Truly! Banana Fish got it so right with the animation, music, everything that brought to life an awesome story and characters.
That's what makes it extra special and gives it plenty of rewatch value. Watch a excellently crafted series and love all 24 episodes, just blink at the end, sorted!
I just finished BananaFish yesterday and I can’t escape the sadness it has left with me.
I enjoyed the series so much and fell in love with the characters...which makes the ending so much harder to handle.
I suppose it proves what an amazing series it was to have affected me so deeply.
Kelz1703 welcome to the club XD pretty much how everyone felt, the series just had to keep dishing out the punches XD
It's exactly like you say, Banana Fish imbues sadness and is very good at it. For a reason: what is the point of a story if people think 'whatever, next'. It is, for better or worse, how Banana Fish can stake it's claim as an outstanding series. Remarkable in that it makes us care, and hurts when these awful things happen because it was real for us.
"I suppose it proves what an amazing series it was to have affected me so deeply."
That is actually true, making people feel anything is actually quite hard for media whether it is movies, music or in this case anime to do well. Banana Fish chose it's calling cards and they were very potent ones.
Hope it helps soften the impact to share that the ending can never linger, remember everything good that happened especially with Ash and Eiji - that lives forever.
What do you think?
